Brian May reveals he suffered minor stroke and temporarily lost control of his arm

Date:

Queen guitarist Brian May has revealed he suffered a minor stroke earlier this year, resulting in temporary loss of control in his left arm. The legendary musician shared the news on his website, reassuring fans that he is now fully recovered.

May, 75, detailed the experience in a heartfelt blog post, describing the sudden onset of symptoms during a holiday with his wife, Anita Dobson. He recalled feeling a “weird tingling sensation” in his left hand and arm, which quickly escalated into numbness and a complete loss of dexterity.

Initially, he dismissed the symptoms as a possible pinched nerve, but after the feeling persisted, he consulted a doctor who confirmed a minor stroke.  The experience, he admits, was “terrifying,” and he underwent immediate treatment at a London hospital.

May emphasized the importance of prompt medical attention, stating that “the faster you act, the better the outcome.” He also expressed gratitude for the medical professionals who provided his care, highlighting their dedication and expertise.

Despite the scare, May assures fans that he is “back to normal” and that his recovery has been “miraculous.”  He remains committed to his musical endeavors, including upcoming performances with Queen + Adam Lambert.

May’s revelation serves as a stark reminder of the potential impact of strokes, even those classified as minor. His candid account underscores the importance of recognizing and responding to even subtle neurological changes, ensuring timely medical intervention for optimal recovery.
