Get on with orderly energy transition, says Origin boss

Date:

In the wake of a rapidly changing energy landscape, the CEO of Origin Energy has urged stakeholders to accelerate efforts towards an orderly energy transition. Speaking at a recent industry conference, the executive highlighted the critical necessity for a well-coordinated shift from traditional fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.

The CEO emphasized that while the challenges are significant, the opportunities are even greater. “We stand at a pivotal moment in history,” he remarked. “Our actions now will determine the sustainability of our planet for future generations.”

He pointed out that renewable technologies have made substantial strides in efficiency and cost-effectiveness over the past decade. “The technology is ready,” he said. “What we need now is decisive action and cohesive policy-making to ensure a smooth and secure transition.”

The CEO also noted the importance of collaboration across sectors. “Government, industry, and communities must work together,” he insisted. “A fragmented approach will only delay progress and increase costs.”

In addition to environmental benefits, he highlighted economic gains associated with a well-managed transition, such as job creation in emerging green industries and reduced long-term energy costs for consumers.

Concluding his address, he made a compelling call to action: “Let’s get on with it. The time for debate is over; it’s time for implementation. An orderly transition to renewable energy is not just an option—it’s an imperative.”
