Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Petronas, Malaysia’s national oil and gas company, has officially opened its first fuel station in Sao Paulo, Brazil, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion into the South American market.
The new fuel station, located in the heart of Sao Paulo, is a strategic move by Petronas to tap into Brazil’s growing demand for fuel and lubricants. The station is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and offers a range of Petronas’ premium fuel products, including its flagship Primax brand.
“We are thrilled to enter the Brazilian market with our first fuel station in Sao Paulo,” said Datuk Md Arif Mahmood, Executive Vice President and CEO of Petronas Downstream. “This marks a significant step in our strategy to expand our presence in South America and provides a platform for us to grow our business in the region.”
The Sao Paulo fuel station is the first of several planned stations in Brazil, with Petronas aiming to establish a network of stations across the country in the coming years. The company has already secured partnerships with local businesses and is working closely with the Brazilian government to ensure a smooth entry into the market.
Brazil is an attractive market for Petronas, with its large and growing population, rapid urbanization, and increasing demand for fuel and energy. The country is also a key player in the Mercosur trading bloc, providing Petronas with opportunities to expand its business across the region.
Petronas’ entry into Brazil is also seen as a strategic move to diversify its revenue streams and reduce its dependence on the Asian market. The company has been actively pursuing opportunities in new markets, including Africa and the Middle East, as part of its long-term growth strategy.
The Sao Paulo fuel station is designed to provide customers with a convenient and comfortable experience, featuring modern amenities such as a convenience store, food and beverage outlets, and clean restrooms. The station will also offer a range of services, including oil changes, tire rotations, and vehicle inspections.
“We are committed to providing our customers in Brazil with the same high level of service and quality products that we offer in our other markets,” said Datuk Md Arif Mahmood. “We believe that our entry into Brazil will not only benefit our business but also contribute to the country’s economic growth and development.”
The opening of the Sao Paulo fuel station marks a significant milestone in Petronas’ history and demonstrates the company’s commitment to expanding its global footprint. With its strong brand reputation and high-quality products, Petronas is well-positioned to succeed in the Brazilian market and establish itself as a major player in the region.
