Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for PS4, Xbox One launches September 17

Fans of the critically acclaimed “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” who haven’t yet upgraded to the current generation of consoles will have another chance to wield the Force, as Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts have announced the release of “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” for PS4 and Xbox One on September 17, 2023.

This surprise announcement comes after the game’s initial launch on April 28, 2023, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. While the new consoles provided a more immersive experience with advanced graphics and performance, many players remained eager to see the game on their existing hardware.

“We know that a lot of our players are still enjoying their PS4 and Xbox One consoles,” said Stig Asmussen, Game Director at Respawn Entertainment. “We wanted to make sure that they had the opportunity to experience the next chapter in Cal Kestis’ journey on their preferred platforms.”

While the PS4 and Xbox One versions of “Jedi: Survivor” will feature the same compelling story and gameplay as the next-gen counterparts, certain compromises have been made to ensure optimal performance.

The PS4 and Xbox One versions will see:

 Reduced visual fidelity: Expect lower resolutions and graphical settings compared to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

 Potentially lower frame rates: The game might experience occasional dips in performance, particularly in complex environments.

Despite these concessions, Respawn assures fans that the core gameplay experience will remain largely intact. Players can still expect the thrilling lightsaber combat, Force abilities, and exploration of diverse planets that made “Fallen Order” a critical and commercial success.

“We’ve optimized the game for these platforms to ensure the best possible experience,” Asmussen added. “We’re confident that players on PS4 and Xbox One will enjoy the immersive and exciting world of ‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.'”

This move by Respawn and EA demonstrates their commitment to reaching a wider audience and ensuring that as many players as possible can experience the latest installment in the “Star Wars Jedi” saga.

Whether you’re a veteran Jedi or a newcomer to the galaxy far, far away, “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” promises to deliver an unforgettable adventure. Prepare to ignite your lightsaber and embark on a journey of survival on September 17th, when the game arrives on PS4 and Xbox One.
