Singer Ingrid Andress Roasted For Terribly Bad National Anthem At Home Run Derby

Date:

Ingrid Andress, a country-pop singer-songwriter, made a disastrous debut at the Major League Baseball Home Run Derby on Monday night, botching a performance of the national anthem that left fans and viewers in disbelief.

Andress, known for her hit singles “More Hearts Than Mine” and “Most People Are Good,” took to the stage at the Washington Nationals’ stadium to perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the annual competition. What followed was a cringe-worthy rendition that left many questioning her preparedness and vocal ability.

The singer’s struggle was evident from the start, as she began the song off-key and struggled to maintain any semblance of pitch. Her warbling and wobbling made it seem like she was singing in a different key altogether, and her phrasing was awkward and stilted.

Fans in attendance and those watching on TV couldn’t help but cringe as Andress’s off-key warbling echoed through the stadium. Social media was quick to react, with many calling out her performance as “horrible” and “terrible.”

“I’m no music critic, but I think Ingrid Andress just murdered the national anthem,” tweeted one fan.

“Unbelievable! Ingrid Andress’s national anthem performance was one of the worst I’ve ever heard,” wrote another.

Even sports personalities and celebrities couldn’t help but weigh in on the performance. Fox Sports analyst Alex Rodriguez tweeted, “Not sure what more to say…that was tough to listen to”

Actress and comedian Aubrey Plaza posted, “I’m not even mad, just disappointed. That’s not how you sing the national anthem.”

Andress has been an accomplished singer-songwriter in her own right, with a debut album that topped the charts and a critically acclaimed EP to boot. However, her performance at the Home Run Derby was a stark reminder that even the best can have an off day.

In the aftermath of the performance, Andress has taken to social media to deflect criticism, claiming that she was “nervous” and “overwhelmed” by the moment. While her apology was well-received by many fans, others remain unimpressed, saying that a lack of preparation and poor vocal skills are unexcusable.

As the Home Run Derby went on to feature some of the biggest names in baseball, Andress’s performance served as a stark reminder that even the most talented performers can falter under the pressure of a big stage.
