Spotify’s HiFi feature might actually become a $5 add-on for the Premium Plan

Date:

Spotify’s HiFi feature will soon offer audiophiles an enhanced listening experience with lossless audio quality. Initially announced in February 2021, it appeared to drift into obscurity as updates ceased. However, recent insider leaks suggest that Spotify HiFi might finally debut as a $5 add-on to its existing Premium Plan.

Unlike the standard Premium subscription which maxes out at 320 kbps, the HiFi tier promises CD-quality, lossless audio at around 1,411 kbps. This offering will enable listeners to hear music exactly as artists intended, preserving the nuances and details often lost in compressed formats.

This competitive move aims to keep Spotify relevant against rising challenges from platforms like Tidal and Apple Music, both of which already support lossless streaming. As many audiophiles are willing to pay extra for superior sound quality, this could be a key factor in retaining premium users and potentially attracting new subscribers.

Although an official launch date has yet to be provided, Spotify’s HiFi is poised to be a disruptive addition, reflecting the company’s commitment to evolving with its user base’s demands and technological advancements in music streaming.
