Waylands Future Leaders Raise Over £3,000 For Young Lives Vs Cancer

In an impressive display of community spirit and leadership, students from Wayland Academy have raised an astonishing £3,000 for Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity dedicated to supporting children and young people with cancer.

The fundraising effort was led by Wayland’s Future Leaders, a group of students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a passion for making a positive impact in their community. The group, comprising of students from Years 7 to 13, worked tirelessly to organize a series of events and activities that would help them reach their ambitious fundraising target.

The campaign kicked off with a bake sale, where students and staff alike indulged in a delicious array of sweet treats, all lovingly baked and donated by the students themselves. The event was a huge success, with the sale of cakes, cookies, and other goodies raising a significant amount of money for the charity.

However, the Future Leaders didn’t stop there. They went on to organize a sponsored walk, where students and staff walked a combined total of over 1,000 miles to raise even more money for Young Lives vs Cancer. The walk was a fun and energetic event, with participants donning colorful costumes and enjoying the beautiful Norfolk countryside.

Other events included a charity football match, a talent show, and a non-uniform day, all of which contributed to the overall total of £3,000. The students also worked closely with local businesses, who generously donated prizes and sponsored the events.

The money raised by Wayland’s Future Leaders will go directly towards supporting the vital work of Young Lives vs Cancer. The charity provides emotional, social, and practical support to children and young people with cancer, as well as their families.
