Becoming a Teacher in Wyoming

1. Education Requirements
   • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
   • Completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program
2. Testing Requirements
   • Pass the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators tests (or meet exemption criteria)
   • Pass the appropriate Praxis Subject Assessments for your teaching area
3. Application Process
   • Apply for licensure through the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board
   • Submit official transcripts, test scores, and other required documentation
   • Complete a background check and fingerprinting process
4. Licensure
   • Obtain an Initial Teaching Certificate, valid for 5 years
   • Complete the Wyoming Teacher Mentoring Program during the first year of teaching

Becoming a School Principal in Wyoming

1. Education and Experience
   • Master’s degree in educational administration or leadership
   • At least three years of successful, full-time teaching experience
2. Certification
   • Complete a state-approved educational leadership program
   • Pass the Praxis Educational Leadership: Administration and Supervision test
3. Application Process
